Have you ever thought about how sign-in is important not only for users but also for your business?

My solution to improve the authentication experience while setting up an account with Cookiebot

Task Overview

  1. To improve usability, we would like to improve the authentication experience while setting up an account with Cookiebot.
  2. How does the user get there?
  • - The user usually lands on our main page
  • - The user is clicking on “Try for free“ in the header or on the page
  • - The user arrives on the following screen:

Problems and solutions

  • Modal instead of a separate sign-up page can give the user a sense that the process will be rapid and simple, and they can go back to where they were within no time.
  • A Meaningful Headline reminds them of the values you can provide and encourage them to finish the signup process. Instead of just saying “Sign Up’’ there could be a better to use ‘’ “Sign up for 30 days free trial’’.
  • Leading users to sign up ASAP by moving the long text from the first to the success page. ‘’Your account will be set up as a Free plan. If your website contains more than 100 subpages, your subscription will automatically change to a 1-month free trial. We will let you know by e-mail. You can anytime upgrade from Free or Trial to a Premium subscription if you want full functionality.’’
  • Placeholder Text for the password is required to reduce errors and make the process faster.
  • kill two birds with one stone; instead of making users click a checkbox stating they agree to your user terms, consider including a message above your action button and changing ‘’Next’’ to ‘’ join now ‘’ or ‘’join for free.’’
  • the text English on the top of the page is not clear, and when something is not obvious, users tend to click to understand, even though it’s not necessarily.
  • Offer alternative methods of registration such as social login or Google login.
  • Present fields in a single-column layout.
  • Data Entry improvement by suggesting email accounts that users have used.
  • Making the page more visualized.
  • One form for Sign Up and Log In, It’s a good point to create one universal form for signing up and logging in. After entering email and password, the service checks if the email is already in its database. If yes, you will log in. If not — the service will create a new account for users. However, I decided not to chose this method because it depends on users' behavior and the switch between login and sign up.
